We had a great meeting Monday night! Thank you to the many people who turned out to learn more about Heroin and Opiate abuse in our town.
The media coverage:
In our meeting we shared the latest statistics on Heroin related deaths, and the threat of new drugs like fentanyl.
We also learned the about the latest legislative initiatives in the Ohio State House and how they hope to stem the rate of opiate abuse because 80% of heroin users were opiate abusers first.
Importantly, we learned the importance of providing clean needles to addicts. Reduce the harm done to addicts so they have a better chance at recovery, when they are ready. http://harmreduction.org/
Two great men talked about their recovery and the importance that the community accept recovery. Let addicts know it is OK to ask for recovery and no stigma will be attached with it.
Areas of Ohio were harder hit earlier, but they came together as a community and now they are destinations for people in recovery.
We also got some homework to watch Marin’s Story Video and learn more about addiction.
Most of all we learned about the many options available to addicts who want to recover!
So many Thank Yous to people who made this meeting a success:
